A & J Lawrence | Accidental and Mechanical Vehicle Repairs Covering Portsmouth and Surrounding Areas

A & J Lawrence was established in Portchester, by brothers Tony and Jon, in 1988 and relocated to the 39,000 sq foot workshop based at Northarbour Road in Cosham in March 2005.

The site has 40+ employees ranging from highly qualified technicians in the workshops, customer care team, estimators, and management team and support staff.

Our customers vary from private individuals to fleet managers and insurance companies but at all levels our focus is on customer satisfaction and the need to ensure that this is maintain at all times.

History

They decided that with their combined skills they would start their own business and established A & J Lawrence Vehicle Repairs, in a leased unit based in Castle Street, Portchester, in April 1988.

The business was based at Castle Street for seven years and had established an excellent reputation.  It was then decided to move the bodyshop part of the business to a larger site so a new 8,000 sq ft location was found at Southampton Road in Cosham.

After eight years, with a substantial growth in both the mechanical and bodyshop areas, Tony and Jon decided to look for other premises, if possible one that could be purchased.  In 2003 a site was found approximately half a mile from the Southampton Road site.  The building was very run down and needed a lot of work to get it to the point of becoming a workshop.

Many pound sterling and man hours later the new 39,000 sq ft building was opened in March 2005 with spacious work areas and ample parking for both staff and customers, and a facility that gave customer a ‘One Stop Shop’ a dream had come true.

The current economic climate has made the last few years very ‘challenging’, but the company has survived and there are now plans in place to move forward ensuring A & J Lawrence will be a local provider for many years to come.
